About 1,500 individual parts, or 300 orders, are shipped each day, and Troeter said each worker in the parts department was estimated to walk as much as three miles a day, coming and going with parts. AME Vertical then began a nine-month evaluation period and assisted Stiles Machinery in designing an integrated vertical storage solution that allowed them to convert their parts distribution area from 3,000 square feet of standard shelving to 500 square feet of automated storage and retrieval.
